Many retailers have found that “Demo Days” are a successful way to help their customers decide upon a boat for their needs. Retailer and Reps combine forces to create a large event where consumers can try all types of boats and be introduced to new items. It is my belief that while these events have large promotional value, the best way to sell kayaks and canoes is to be available every day for your customer. The stores that can offer demonstrations and instruction every day of the week in the long run will serve their customer base better. However, the weekend “Demo Day” can still be a valuable enterprise.
Ebersold Distribution will attend demo days that have either large attendance or prequalified registration of participants. There are many levels of support that we offer based upon your committment to the Demo Day:
The Big Weekend Demo Show--Box Trailer w/ all lines (20-40 boats), 2-3 Pop up Tents, all boat and accessories displayed. This is the largest level of support for a weekend event where my “shop on wheels” is unloaded at your site. Benefits: The ability to sell all lines of EDI product including special orders of non-stocking items Dedicated promotion on happy’ paddlin website Promotional specials on hand (new boats, stocked products, closeouts) Consumer give aways (hats, tshirts, etc) Free pair of Costa Del Mar sunglasses to staff member that helps for the day
Requirements: At least 50 attendees per sales representative. Pre Registered participants 20/rep 1 dedicated staff member to assist during the event Staff help to unload box trailer Media marketing (newspaper, radio, tv) Store must stock at least 2 of Ebersold Distribution Kayak/Canoe products (Eddyline, Emotion Kayaks, Pak Boats) and 3 soft good lines (Stohlquist/Warmers WaterWear, Bending Branches, Swift, Danuu, Skwoosh, Costa Del Mar, CRG Repair) Liability insurance for event w/ Ebersold Distribution as additionally insured
Cost: Free if above requirements are met. $1500/day or appropriate wholesale volume Little Red Truck w/ small trailer--5-10 boats, 1 to 3 accessory lines Some shops are set up to do their own event and just need a little more support. The little truck saves expenses but I’ll still be their with all the energy that 3 cups of coffee can muster!
Benefits Rep support with select boats and accessories based upon your shop’s line up. Dedicated Promotion on www.happypaddlin.com Saved resources will be used to do other events (Evening clinics, Private Demonstrations)
Requirements 25 attendees per representative or 10 pre-registered/rep Marketing of event at store and local media Liability insurance for event w/ Ebersold Distribution as additionally insured.
Cost Free if above requirements are met $750/day or appropriate wholesale volume
